Record attendance at CTU 2009 Vocal Violin Camp

Ganesh PrasadThe CTU Vocal and Violin Camp was held from 26 May to 20 July 2009 in Naperville, IL. About 300 hours of one-on-one sessions on vocal, violin and mridangam accompaniment were offered to about 22 attendees which included 8 new attendees and 2 attendees from other states.  CTU thanks Sri B.U.Ganesh Prasad for spending this time in Chicagoland and dedicating his time and effort to conduct the camp.

Quote from Sri B. U. Ganesh Prasad:

I am extremely happy with the response that the kids and their parents showed towards this year’s camp and the attendance is defenitely growing every year.  There were quite a few new students attending this year’s camp both for violin and vocal and it was heartening to see most of them taking part with a great deal of interest.  I should congratulate the parents for taking the time off from their busy schedule and bringing them for the class and sit with them through out the session.  I am very happy to see the progress that previous camp attendees have shown and they clearly have the ability to reach greater heights with the dedication, practice and quest to learn.

My humble peice of advise for students would be :

  • Practice everyday regularly
  • Listen to good music everyday, especially old masters’ recordings
  • Attend live concerts and make note of the songs rendered by the artists

I immensely thank Chicago Thyagaraja Utsavam  and specially Savitha and Dr Prasod Ramachandran and family for hosting me and patronising Carnatic music for the benefit of the young and aspiring Carnatic music students in the Chicago area.
