CTU 2008 Registration Deadline: 18th Apr 2008

All registrations must be received by CTU following the registration process on the Web by the CTU 2008 Registration Deadline including the following:
- Teachers registering students
- Individual performers registering themselves
- Performers registering with Accompaniments
In order to accommodate the increased attendance at our Utsavam, we are making some changes in the manner in which the Tyagaraja Homage sessions are scheduled.
General Guidelines
Tyagaraja Homage Program is held at the Sama Rathi Auditorium on Saturday only. This includes all registrations received by the CTU 2008 Registration Deadline including Teacher Sessions, Group Sessions as well as those Individual Performances that can be accommodated within the time available. These performances will be scheduled in the following sequence: a) Teacher Sessions, b) Group Sessions and c) Individual Performances.
This year, CTU is treating performances with accompaniments a little differently from previous years. See Accompanied Performances for more details.
Note:
- Other than the standard CTU Performances of Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram, Pancharatna Kritis, Utsava Sampradaya Kritis, Western Orchestra, a participant may perform only once at the Festival. They may perform in a Teacher Session or a Group Session, an Individual Performance or an Accompanied Performance.
- CTU may not be able to accommodate registrations received after the CTU 2008 Registration Deadline in the 2008 festival
- CTU may not be able to accommodate Individual Performances on Saturday — the first day of the festival
- All attendees and participants must pay each day’s rates to attend or participate on that day
- All instruments other than Tambura, Sruthi Box, Talometer and cymbals are considered to be accompaniments.
- The following combinations may have accompaniments on Saturday in the Rathi Auditorium in the Teacher Session or Group Session. See Accompanied Performances for all other combinations.
- Seven or more vocalists
- Four or more identical instruments
Teacher Sessions
Teacher Sessions are time periods allotted to teachers based on the number of students who participated from their school in 2007. CTU requests teachers to do the following within their respective Teacher Sessions:
- Identify the students who will perform in your session
- Allocate time slots for these students
- Maximize participation by grouping many students
- Distribute the allotted time across the selected students as they deem fit
- Allocate time slots for these students
- Ensure that the given Teacher Session is completed within the allotted time
Note:
- Teachers with five or less students will be allotted the same time as Individual Performances — four minutes. This is the time allotted to the whole Teacher Session. In other words, the Teacher can have the students render a single performance by one child or a single performance by a group of 2 to 5 children. The total time for this Teacher Session cannot exceed four minutes.
- Teachers with six or more performing students in 2007 will be informed about their respective time periods prior to the commencement of the registration process.
- New teachers will be informed about their respective time slots after all registrations are received.
- When determining the number of students per teacher, CTU does not include members of the teacher’s family learning from the teacher.
- Teachers must be physically present on stage with their students during their respective Teacher Sessions.
- A Teacher Session may only include performances by students of the given Teacher.
- Teacher Sessions will be scheduled on Saturday.
- CTU will enforce the time limit for the Teacher Session.
- CTU will not enforce the time limit for the performances within a Teacher Session.
- CTU will allocate times for Teacher Sessions in future years based upon the actual number of students who performed from the Teacher’s school in the respective Teacher Session. Students of the given Teacher who performed at the festival outside of the Teacher Session will not be taken into consideration when allocating times by teacher in future years.
Students who cannot be accommodated within the Teacher Sessions may consider working with their teachers to register themselves as Individual Performances.
Group Sessions
Group Sessions (adults or children) include:
- Multiple vocalists who do not have the same teacher
- Multiple identical instruments played by instrumentalists not having the same teacher
Group Sessions will be scheduled on Saturday.
All other groups requiring accompaniments will be scheduled during the Accompanied Performances.
The time limit for group sessions will be determined on a case by case basis.
Individual Performances
These are performances rendered by an individual adult or child with no accompaniments.
Note:
- Individual Performances cannot exceed four minutes.
- Individual Performances are scheduled after Teacher Sessions and Group Sessions.
- Teachers may not sit on stage with the students rendering the Individual Performances
- CTU will enforce the four minute time limit
- The performance may not be scheduled on Saturday in Rathi Auditorium
- The student’s name will not be listed under the given Teacher’s name.
