Lalgudi GJR Krishnan is a leading exponent of the Lalgudi Bani. Son and disciple of the legendary maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman, Krishnan has nurtured and propagated the legacy of the Lalgudi Bani, while also blending his own artistic elements to mould it into his unique and distinctive style. His performing career spans over four decades. As a musician, he has many facets, but he is perhaps best known for violin duets with his sister Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi. They are renowned for their classical purity, highly creative, nuanced and intricate interpretations of ragas, and their total command over laya and bhava.
Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi is a fifth-generation musician of the illustrious Lalgudi Bani and the daughter and disciple of legendary musician, Lalgudi G Jayaraman. As a violinist, she performs solo, duet, as an accompanist and collaborates with artistes across genres. She is also an accomplished vocalist, a composer, and a teacher.
Guru Raghavendra (Mridangam)
Shri. Guru Raghavendra hails from a family of musicians and initially learned the Mridangam from his grandfather Late. Palayamkottai S. Venkataramana Rao and later on continued under the tutelage of Late. Kalaimamani Thinniyam Y. Krishnan, a retired Staff Artiste, AIR, Pondicherry. Over a span of 3 decades, Shri Guru Raghavendra has accompanied many eminent musicians and has performed in US, Europe, Asia and Africa.
K.V. Gopalakrishnan (Kanjira)
K.V. Gopalakrishnan (kanjira) received his initial training in music from his father Shri K.V. R.S. Mani. He received advanced training under the guidance of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. T.K. Murthy and also learnt to play the mridangam from Shri R. Viswanatha Iyer. He is an A grade artist of All India Radio and has performed in many major music festivals across the globe.
