Announcing the CTU 2020 Food Serving Team

CTU has grown enormously in recent years. We welcome an ever-increasing number of diverse CTU patrons to provide them a wide variety of food, often under challenging conditions. Our guests expect and deserve competent, excellent service from a well-informed, courteous, and coordinated team. Excellent service from our volunteers is crucial for the satisfaction of our hungry patrons in the dining halls. We can no longer handle this critical work in an ad-hoc manner.

For all these reasons, from 2020, CTU is forming the Food Serving Team.

  • Note: A separate call has already gone out for the CTU 2020 Culinary Artists.  This is a different request to form the CTU Food Serving Team.

Food Serving Team Responsibilities

The Food Serving Team serves food to the CTU attendees at lunch, snack, and dinner on every day of the festival.  This team must ensure that every member is aware of what, when, and how to serve food in a consistent way to best benefit our patrons. Therefore, CTU may not be able to allow unregistered (“walk-in”) food servers during the Utsavam.

We kindly request that anyone who wishes to take part in food serving activity to register by taking the following steps.

Participation Steps

  • Register yourself as a 2020 CTU Food Serving Team member by submitting the information requested below. After registering, you will be provided with “CTU Food Serving Team Best Practices Guide.” Please read, familiarize yourself and conform to these courteous practices.
  • Sign-up for specific serving hours using a Sign up Genius link that will be sent to you.  If you need to change the commitment, please kindly revise the sign up genius at least 3 days prior to the Utsavam or in the case of an emergency inform Kitchen Team ASAP.
  • Attend at least one preparatory session with the CTU Kitchen Team. (Sessions occur every morning during the Utsavam in the Gupta Hall at 10 AM and evening 6 PM)
  • Pick up your service badge at this time.
  • Share your knowledge and experience to evolve and improve these practices

Registration Deadline: 30 Apr 2020
