CTU families assembled at the temple at 9:45 AM for the festivities to begin at 10:00 AM.

Utsava Sampradaya Krithis
The festivities were kicked off with a soul-filling rendition of 5 Utsava Sampradaya Krithis by children trained by CTU over the years. This group was trained by Smt. Rajeswari Pariti for 7 classes from October 2016 to April 2017.
Chicago Tyagaraja Utsavam thanks the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago for this unique opportunity for the CTU trained children to perform the Utsava Sampradaya Krithis on this very auspicious occasion.
CTU USK practice sessions are held regularly in preparation for the Annual Memorial Day Music Festival each year.
Lakshmi Ashtothram, Nama Ramayanam and Hanuman Chalisa
CTU introduced the chanting of Lakshmi Ashtothram by CTU trained children and adults this year. This was followed by the Nama Ramayanam chanting in perfect unison by CTU trained children and adults. The Nama Ramayanam chanting was followed by the rendition of Hanuman Chalisa by the CTU group of children and adults.
Subsequently, archana was performed for Lord Hanuman.
All three groups were trained by Smt. Maragatham Mani Sundaresan since Feb 2017 over 13 practice sessions for Lakshmi Ashtothram, Nama Ramayanam and Hanuman Chalisa.
Chicago Tyagaraja Utsavam thanks the Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago for this opportunity for the CTU trained children to perform the Lakshmi Ashtothram, Nama Ramayanam and Hanuman Chalisa.
The performance received appreciation from the temple authorities and Utsava Abhivandanam function attendees. All participants received the blessings of Lord Hanuman in the form of the prasadam.
As per the CTU tradition at such performances, several participants put at least one dollar on the Harathi plate.
Vada Mala
The cornerstone of the Abhivandanam function is the Vada Mala offering to Hanuman by the CTU community of well-wishers.
The attendees offered their prayers and Vada Mala to Lord Hanuman. The Vadais were distributed to one and all on this festive, joyous occasion.
All Utsava Abhivandanam attendees were served prasadam. Lunch prepared by CTU Volunteers.
