CTU 2017 Accompanied Performances

Updated 15 Apr 2017: Accompanied Performances are performances that have predetermined accompanying instruments and artists. These performances are rendered in the following combinations:

  • Single vocalist or instrumentalist with accompaniments
  • Groups of up to six vocalists with accompaniments
  • Groups of up to three instrumentalists with accompaniments

  • Accompanying instruments: Violin, Mridangam, Ghatam, Khanjira and Moharsing
  • Date: Saturday, 03 June 2017
  • Time: Early morning (to be announced)
  • Venue: Sama Rathi Auditorium
  • Time Limit: 10 min
  • Fee for Accompanied Performance: $50 due at the Front Desk on the day of the performance

Registrants for Accompanied Performances must specify the names of the accompanying artists when they submit their registrations.

Note 

  • Updated 15 Apr 2017: Families of participants in Accompanied performances must have paid the applicable payment for the day of the performance or should have purchased a package that includes the day of the performance.  Additionally, the Lead Performer for the Accompanied Performance must also pay the Fee for Accompanied Performance.
  • There is a limited number of accompanied performances that can be accommodated during the CTU 2017 Music festival on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registrations received after this limit is reached will be wait listed. CTU will do its best to accommodate them subject to the availability of time. CTU cannot provide any updates on the wait-listed status in advance.
  • CTU may not be able to accommodate registrations received after the CTU 2017 Registration Deadline.
  • CTU will strictly enforce the time limit. Performers are strongly encouraged to render their performance within the specified time limit.
  • Registrations for Accompanied Performances that do not have the names of the Accompanying Artists will be treated as Individual or Group Performances
  • A single Krithi is rendered as part of an Accompanied Performance.  Manodharmam can be optionally included as part of the Accompanied Performance. 
  • Teachers may not sit on stage with the students rendering the Accompanied Performances
  • Vocal performances must have violin and mridangam accompaniments.
  • Instrumental performances must have at least mridangam accompaniment.

If you are the Lead Performer for an Accompanied Performance:

  • Please register yourself and provide the names of the accompanying artists at the same time.
  • CTU is not responsible for providing the accompanists or the instruments. CTU can provide the instruments subject to their availability upon your request.
  • If you need CTU to provide the Mridangam or the Ghatam, please make sure you have mentioned the Sruthi.
  • CTU does not recommend any accompanying artists. CTU requests you to make appropriate arrangements with the accompanying artists prior to registration and provide their names during the registration process.
  • Please work directly with the accompanying artists to rehearse your performance as a team.
