Nada Yoga with Saptaswaras – a novel experience for the community

On Saturday, 8th Aug 2015, Chicago Tyagaraja Utsavam and The Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago presented an innovative music experience called Nada Yoga with Saptaswaras conducted by the Indian classical violin maestro Sri Ganesh Rajagopalan (of Ganesh Kumaresh duo brothers), who has been an internationally renowned performer and composer for past four decades.

Nada Yoga with Saptaswaras is a mantra for yogic meditation designed to understand the basic concepts of positions of notes through chanting swaras.

This unique session was conducted at the Vivekanda Hall, Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago from 7 PM for about 45 minutes.  It was a full house at the venue with about 78 people in attendance including several members of the community of all ages from senior citizens to school children in Grade 2 to high school.  Families participating in the CTU 2015 Innovative Vocal and Violin camp attended as well.

The session started with the raga scales and the CTU 2015 camp students chanting the scales followed by the audience.

The session concluded with the artist playing a glorious piece in Purvi Kalyani.

It was a novel experience for the community as a whole.

CTU welcomes attendees to share your feedback about the whole experience by clicking here.
