Individual Performances

These are performances rendered by an individual adult or child with no accompaniments.

  • Date: Saturday, 24 May 2014
  • Time: 1 PM to 6 PM
  • Venue: Vivekananda Hall, HTGC (right next to the Swami Vivekananda statue)**
  • Time Limit: 4 minutes

Note (Updated 7 May 2014):

  • New registrations received from 1 May 2014 for Individual Performances will be wait listed. CTU processes registrations on a first come, first served basis and will do our best to accommodate all registrations subject to the availability of time during the festival. CTU is not in a position to inform in advance if wait listed registrations can be accommodated because it is dependent on the actual number of attendees during the festival. Please see CTU 2014 Individual & Accompanied Performances Update for additional information.
  • Individual performances and Accompanied Performances will be interspersed throughout this time period.  An Individual performance followed by an Accompanied performance followed by an Individual Performance etc.
  • A participant may render one Krithi or play a solo for one Thalam on the Mridangam as part of an Individual Performance
  • Teachers may not sit on stage with the students rendering the Individual Performances
  • CTU will enforce the time limit for the Individual Performance
  • The student’s name will not be listed under the given Teacher’s name in the Program Schedule.

** If you are a Senior Citizen and would prefer to pay homage through your Individual Performance at the Sama Rathi Auditorium, please send an e-mail to ctu {DOT} info {AT} ChicagoTyagarajaUtsavam {DOT} org before Friday, May 17, 2014.  CTU will do its best to accommodate your request factoring in other logistical considerations.
