CTU families assembled at the temple at 8:45 AM for the festivities to begin at 9 AM.
Utsava Sampradaya Krithis
The festivities were kicked off with a soul-filling rendition of 8 Utsava Sampradaya Krithis by children trained by CTU over the years. This was possible thanks to the cooperation of the Chicago area teachers as well as Smt.Rajeswari Pariti, who is the coach and conductor for this group of children. Starting Fall of 2012, Smt. Rajeswari Pariti is conducting regular USK practice sessions on behalf of CTU in preparation for the Annual Memorial Day Music Festival each year.

Hanuman Chalisa
The CTU Utsava Sampradaya Krithis(USK) performance was immediately followed by a rendition of Hanuman Chalisa by the CTU children and adults according to the M.S.Subbalakshmi amma’s style. Chicago area teacher, Smt.Maragatham Sundaresan trained this CTU group on this immortal composition of Hanuman Chalisa over the past few months.
Vada Mala
The cornerstone of the Abhivandanam function is the Vada Mala offering to Hanuman by the CTU community of well-wishers.
This was followed by Alankaram and Arathi for Lord Rama. As the Arathi for Lord Rama was being performed, Lord Hanuman was being decorated in preparation for the Vada Mala offering.
Then the community offered their prayers, Arathi and Vada Mala to Lord Hanuman. The Vadais were distributed to one and all on this festive, joyous occasion.
Then, once again the children and adults rendered Hanuman Chalisa in front of Lord Hanuman.
This was followed by a distribution of Prasadam. Our Special thanks to Smt.Rajeswari Pariti for her presence and support during the Hanuman Chalisa rendition. CTU also acknowledges the offering and support of families who brought Prasadam.
Over the years, CTU has worked to instill a practice of CTU families donating one dollar to the temple when the priests bring the Arathi to the devotees. This has come to be a hallmark of CTU performances at the local temples.
