Participation guidelines
Participants must be between 10 and 20 years old as of the Memorial Day weekend
Children interested in being part of this group performance must obtain their teacher’s approval that they can play the Viriboni Ata Thala Varnam in Raagam Bhairavi with proper gamakam.
Registration
Registration for participation in this performance must be submitted by the teachers of interested children.
Teachers may recommend up to 4 of their students.
For each student, teachers are requested to send the following information by e-mail to ctucomp {AT} gmail {DOT} com by 8 Mar 2013.
The subject line of the e-mail should be CTU 2013 Chetulara.
- First and last name of the teacher
- Phone number of the teacher (s)
- First and last name of the student
- Instrument played by this student
- Number of years of training on this instrument
- Please confirm the student can play Bhairavi Ata Thala Varnam in two speeds with proper gamakam (Yes/No)
- First and last name of the parents
- Residential address of the student
- Phone Number of the student
- Additional comments from teacher (optional)
CTU may not be in a position to accommodate registrations that do not have all the information requested by the date specified above.
Note: Registrations will only be accepted directly from the teachers of interested students.
CTU will be conducting regular, intense group practice sessions to train the selected children on Chetulara that will start in a few weeks. Participants must attend the practice sessions on a regular basis and be open to corrections in order for the group of children to come out with a well-coordinated, synchronized, high-quality performance.
During these practice sessions, CTU will be selecting the children who will be rendering this performance at the Utsavam based upon various criteria including their regularity in attendance and the quality of their individual performance.
