Shri D. H. Viswanathan, popularly known as Bombay Hari, had his initial tutelage under his elder sister, Smt. Parvati Krishnamurthy and later took a liking to Bhajan singing in his teens. He has been giving programmes all over India for nearly three decades now and in addition to regular Sampradaya Bhajans, he is also adept in performing several Kalyanams in bhajan style like Seetha Kalyanam, Radha Kalyanam, Rukmini Kalyanam, Meenakshi Kalyanam, Ganapathi Kalyanam, Hariharaputhra Kalyanam, Srinivasa Padmavati Kalyanam, Lakshmi Kalyanam and Valli Devasena Kalyanam.
In his retired life now, Shri Viswanathan is fully engaged in imparting lessons to quite a large number of students who throng to learn from him Tharangams, Ramdas Krithis, Purandara Dasa Krithis, Meenakshi Sutha Krithis, Abhangs, etc.
He has also been conferred the title of “Ganamritha Varshini” by the Kanchi Kamakoti Chandrasekara Swamigal Aaraadhana Committee, Palakkad.

Vocal support is provided by Shri R. Veeramony of Trivandrum who has been a great patron of Shri Viswanathan and has been accompanying him for all programmes over the country for nearly 20 years now. Trivandrum R Veeramoney, comes from a family with a strong musical background hailing from Tamil Nadu. His grand father, Kodivayal Venkatrama Iyer a well known Hari Katha exponent and is a counterpart of Pudukottai Gopalakrishna Bhagavathar in Bhajan. His involvement in Bhajan started at a tender age of 5 when his father used to take him to Saturday Bhajans conducted in the temple close to house. This helped him to be part of namasankeeerthanams.
The real breakthrough happened when he met Shri. Bombay Hari in 1981 in a Bhajan session from where he enjoyed the real bhava, meaning, bhakthi and of course the musical experience in Bhajans, whether it is in Carnatic or Hindustani ragas. Since then his music library is flooded with Hari Mama’s live Bhajans. He had the opportunity to be a co-singer of Harimama for more than 1000 bhajan sessions.
