CTU 2017 Chetulara Registration Deadline: Friday, Feb 24, 2017
Participation Guidelines
- Applicants must be between 10 and 20 years old as of the Memorial Day weekend.
- Applicants must be able to play one of the following:
- Chetulara
- Bhairavi Ata Tala Varanam (Viriboni)
- Any Krithi in Bhairavi Raga (Pallavi, Charanam and Anupallavi)
- Participants must attend the Chetulara practice sessions on a regular basis and be open to corrections in order for the CTU 2017 Chetulara Team to deliver a well-coordinated, synchronized, high-quality performance.
CTU 2017 Chetulara Team Selection Process
Team Selection Time Period: 10 AM to 11:30 AM on Sun, 26 Feb 2017
Team Selection Venue: Skype (to be communicated by e-mail to registrants)
All applicants are requested to make arrangements in advance to make themselves available during the entire Team Selection Time Period. CTU will contact the applicant by Skype at anytime during the Team Selection Time Period.
Note: CTU is not in a position to provide the specific time at which the applicants will be contacted during the Team Selection Time Period.
CTU will be identifying candidate children for the CTU 2017 Chetulara team based upon the following process:
- Applicants will be requested to play Chetulara, Viriboni or a Krithi in Raga Bhairavi (Pallavi, Charanam and Anupallavi).
- If there are technical issues encountered during the Skype connection process, the applicant may be also requested to send an audio recording of one of these songs.
- CTU will factor in all the inputs from the CTU panel of experts to identify the members of the CTU 2017 Chetulara team
- Subject to the selected applicants regularly attending the practice sessions, they will perform at the CTU 2017 Chetulara performance.
Practice Schedule
- At the request of CTU, Aparna Sunder will be teaching Chetulara during these practice sessions.
- Chetulara practice sessions will be held from 2 PM to 3 PM on the same dates and at the same venue where the CTU Pancharatnam Sessions are held. The practice session dates will be updated on the CTU Calendar.
- CTU will be conducting regular, intense group practice sessions to train the selected children on Chetulara. Participants must attend the practice sessions on a regular basis and be open to corrections in order for the group of children to come out with a well-coordinated, synchronized, high-quality performance.
- If you are an out-of-town participant interested in learning remotely, please refer to the Remote Learning guidelines. Out-of-town participants must attend at least two practice sessions in person before the Memorial Day festival.
