CTU Seva Day – First CTU50 Event
43 Volunteers Assemble 350 School-Supply Kits
Thirty-four volunteers gathered bright and early on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Satya Sai Community Center in Northlake, Illinois, to assemble school-supply kits for children across Chicagoland. Volunteers spanned generations—young adults, parents, school-aged children, and seniors—working side by side to prepare and box the kits for distribution.
In Chicago, one in two children lacks access to adequate school supplies. Beginning the school year without basic essentials can affect a child’s confidence, attendance, and overall ability to succeed. Addressing this need was the driving force behind CTU Seva Day.
Chicago Tyagaraja Utsavam is proud to launch its CTU50 year-long anniversary celebrations with this Community Assembly Event, organized in partnership with Cradles to Crayons. The event reflects CTU’s enduring commitment to service and community engagement.
Each school-supply kit included:
- A fun academic craft
- No. 2 pencils
- Pencil sharpener
- Pencil Pouch
- Erasers
- Drawstring bags
- Crayons
- Washable marker
- Glue sticks
Volunteering is a fundamental tenet of CTU, and the enthusiastic participation in this event exemplifies how CTU families come together to work toward a shared purpose and collective impact.
