CTU’s 2025 Instrumental Ragamala Program

We are thrilled to announce that applications for the Inaugural Instrumental Ragamala Program during CTU’s 2025 Utsavam are now open! Applicants across North America are invited to participate.

Date: Sunday May 25 or Monday May 26, 2025

Location: Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago

Program Highlights:

  • Instrumental group performance conducted by Violin Virtuoso Kamalakiran Vinjamuri.
  • Approximately ten participants will be in the group.
  • 45 minute instrumental medley, including a main piece from Saint Tyagaraja. Other composers may be included to showcase different handling of ragas.
  • Selected participants will be trained by the conductor in the months leading up to the Utsavam & should be able to dedicate the required amount of time.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years of Carnatic music training
  • Proficiency in Manodharma with instrument of choice.
  • Available to perform in person on either of the dates identified above.
  • Provide a link to a prior performance such that the CTU selection team can gauge the participant’s capabilities and level from the link.

Registrations are now closed.

Applicants will be selected for the performance by February 14, 2025. Group Practices are expected to occur between February-May 2025.
