- 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month from January through May
- 3rd Saturdays of the month from June through December

The increased frequency before May is to allow for additional practice sessions leading up to the Utsavam during the Memorial day weekend. The Sahasranama session flags off the Chicago Tyagaraja Utsavam every year on the Saturday before Memorial Day. These sessions are a service provided by the CTU. There is no fee involved.
Each session has the following format:
- 4 PM – 4:45 PM: Children’s learning session
- 4:45 PM to 5:30 PM: Group chanting
Families are encouraged to do the following:
- Attend the Practice sessions regularly
- Listen to CTU recorded version
- Reference the CTU Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram books on an as needed basis
- Host Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram sessions at their residence
- Share your experience
- Actively participate in the Tyagaraja Utsavam
CTU strongly urges attending families to purchase the CTU Sahasranama Stotram books. Latest prices for these books can be obtained on our CDs & Publications page.
What is “special” about CTU’s version of Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram book?
CTU’s version of the Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram is a common error-free version that has the following salient characteristics:
- Proof read and corrected to fix all known errors
- Has the appropriate symbols that facilitate accurate pronunciation which is critical in all languages – especially Sanskrit.
- Shows how the name-words split (vigrahavakya) to help pronunciation – or to ID the individual names. Sahasranama Stotram, is after all, a thousand plus names of Lord Vishnu.
- Based on the ubiquitous standard for chanting set by Smt. M.S. Subbulakshmi
- Available in four (Roman, Devanagari, Tamil, Telugu) scripts with identical verses so a polyglot group can chant together from multiple generations. All versions have identical verse numbers – a teacher may call out a verse number – it will be same – no matter what version the student has
- Printed on heavy parchment paper protected by plastic covers.
- Large easy to read computer fonts – One may lay it on the floor and still read – especially helpful to children and senior citizens.
Please note that the CTU version of the Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram is registered with the US Library of Congress Copyrights Office and therefore protected by law against unauthorized copying.CTU strongly encourages learning the Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram by listening to the CTU version chanted and recorded in a teacher-student format – .
